Book Club

The Wayne Public Library book club meets monthly, excluding August and December.  Each month a different book is selected by the group. The book club currently meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.

Books planned for the 2017 year will be announced soon.



Computer Instruction

Library staff are available to work one-on-one with patrons on topics including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, E-Mail, Using Google, Office Shortcuts, downloading audiobooks and e-books, and using any of the library databases.  Please call ahead to "Book a Librarian" for one of these 30-minute sessions.


Grandmapa Program

This program brings together volunteers and young children in daycare settings. Volunteers can select from over 50 thematic reading kits containing books and fun activities to share with the children during the visits. Six picture books may also be checked out from the library collection to leave at the home between visits. This program runs twice a month, September through May.


Humanities programming

The library participates in the Nebraska Humanities Council Speakers Bureau. Programs are planned throughout the year, often in conjunction with the Senior Center or the Friends of the Library.


Obituary Searches

Wayne Public Library maintains over 125 years of Wayne newspapers on microfilm and CD. As of 2016 these papers are also available online through the library website. 

Library staff can perform a genealogy search on request. Contact the library at 402-375-3135 for more information on the procedure and cost for this service.


Parent Corner

Begun as a cooperative venture among area agencies, the Parent Corner opened in September 2001. Its intent is to offer materials that aid parents and caregivers in providing a happy and healthy environment for area children. Books and videos are available on a variety of topics for adults and children.
