for its donation of the roll-off and disposal fees. Thank you also to the Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation & Development
for choosing Wayne to host this event and providing funding from the Nebraska Environmental Trust. With committed partners like these in our community, we will no doubt reach our goal of Zero Waste in Wayne.
Why should I bring in my HHW instead of throwing it in the landfill?
Household hazardous waste is hazardous. The items above contain chemicals that should not be poured down our drains or thrown into our landfill, where the toxins can then contaminate our water and soil. It is difficult to properly dispose of these items so save them while you can until the next HHW collection event.
When is the next HHW event?
Our next HHW Event in Wayne is April 13, 2018, 2-4 pm at the Wayne Transfer Station. Usually these events occur in Wayne every three years, thanks to funding from the NE Nebraska RC&D. When not in Wayne, they host these in neighboring towns every year. Always check back for news on the next local HHW event in the area and save your items until then. Thank you!
Where else can I take electronics, paint, light bulbs, or CFLs (must not be broken)?
Outside of special collections in Wayne or neighboring towns, you can take electronics to Nebraska Electronics Recycling
in Norfolk and paint, light bulbs, or CFLs to the Norfolk Transfer Station
. Be sure to call ahead first to confirm acceptability, business hours and any fees.
