[ARCHIVED] Public Tour of new Wastewater Treatment Plant

The City of Wayne will host a public open house/tour of the recently completed Wastewater Treatment Plant on Saturday, October 15th from 10 a.m. to noon.

Entrance is through the angled driveway one block east and one block south of the intersection of 4th and Dearborn Streets.

Wayne has just completed a multi-year project to build a new wastewater plant and sludge handling system that will abandon the 26-acre lagoon. You'll see:

* The underground Aquarius type bio-reactor, designed in Israel, that can completely process more than 1 million gallons of raw sewage per day;

* The ultraviolet light sterilization chamber for the discharge of water to Logan Creek.

* The newly installed belt press that de-waters sludge from the Aquarius system; and

* The nutrient dense sludge in solid form for land application.

The tours will be guided by our certified Treatment Plant Operators.
