The City of Wayne is conducting a public Ground Breaking Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17th to begin the construction of the new Aquarius Waste Water Treatment Plant. The location is at the site of the existing waste water plant at 205 Dearborn Street in Wayne.
The Aquarius plant design is used in Europe and the Middle East but is new to the United States. It substitutes the entire natural bacterial chain reduction process found in flowing streams for the standard high energy, accelerated aeration process to clean waste water. The process is proven to save energy, reduce odor, and reduce sludge.
This project has been awarded $530,000 in Congressional Demonstration Funds through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency because of the unique design of the system.
The August 17th ground breaking will be attended by the Design Engineers and the contractor and they will be available for questions about the project.
