Officers of the Wayne Police Department are on duty round the clock. The patrol officers work 12-hour shifts and provide our community with 24-hour-a-day police service. A significant part of each individual officers duty is police patrol.
Officers on patrol conduct a variety of tasks. These include traffic law enforcement, traffic control for funerals, sporting or community events, business checks, animal impounds, and accident investigations.
Patrol officers respond to calls for service, investigate all manner of incidents and offenses and are tasked with completing detailed reports. All of our officers are certified to operate Doppler radar units and the DMT Datamaster breath testing equipment and all have CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
Wayne Police Officers patrol our streets using four marked cars and foot patrol (weather permitting).
